He is now an assistant coach for the St. Louis Cardinals\, the team he spent most of his career with.\n \n\nWhile originally from California\, Willie McGee spent four years in the New York Yankee minor leagues before he came to the Cardinals in a trade for pitcher Bob Sykes. He played for three other organizations in his 18-year career\, but McGee will always be remembered as Cardinal.\n\nAs an all-time great centerfielder\, "Number 51" won three Gold Gloves\, earned batting titles in 1985 and 1990\, was voted onto four All-Star teams\, played in four World Series\, and was the 1985 National League Most Valuable Player. \n\n \n\nMcGee remains a fan favorite in St. Louis not only because of his skills on the fields\, but also because of kindness and humility. \n\n \n\nThis year's Thanks4Giving Gala will offer a private cocktail reception for high-end sponsors\, meet and greet opportunities with photographs\, extraordinary cuisine\, and entertainment throughout the evening. The Thanks4Giving Gala is the Club's major fundraiser of the year to raise operating cost for the upcoming year.
