About Us: H2Ozarks is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and improving water quality in the Ozarks region of Arkansas and Missouri. We work on a variety of water-related initiatives, including septic remediation, stream monitoring, public outreach, stakeholder engagement, and watershed education. We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Program Assistant to join our team and assist with a variety of programs, particularly for our Missouri office.

Position Summary: This entry-level position offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about water quality and watershed management while supporting key programs aimed at improving septic systems, outreach and education, and working with various stakeholder groups. The Program Assistant will assist with program administration, represent H2Ozarks at events, and provide direct support to the Missouri Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in managing homeowner inquiries, verifying eligibility, and organizing relevant documents for our septic remediation program.
  • Channel enquires from the public to the appropriate staff or resource.
  • Organize and maintain project/program data to ensure accurate and accessible information for team use.
  • Maintain and organize activities related to the W.A.T.E.R Program, a resource for local educators.
  • Track budget expenditures and assist in account reconciliation to support financial accountability.
  • Coordinate team calendars to facilitate scheduling and communication among team members and externally.
  • Coordinate event calendars, meetings, and program activities and communicate the same effectively across various methods.
  • Assist in project development by gathering information and contributing to planning processes.
  • Conduct research to support project goals and gather relevant data.
  • Assist program managers and directors with other administrative tasks as needed.
Event Representation and Outreach:
  • Represent H2Ozarks at community events through tabling and public engagement.
  • Engage the public by communicating about watershed and water quality issues in a clear and accessible way.
  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media, email marketing, and digital advertising.
  • Write newsletter articles and manage social media content and scheduling.
  • Provide support in planning and coordinating outreach initiatives and meetings, ensuring logistics are effectively managed.
Training and Development:
  • Participate in training programs to deepen your knowledge of water quality, partner collaboration, and landowner outreach.
Qualifications:
  • At least two years of office administration experience or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software as applicable to the position.
  • Experience generating reports and interpreting data.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proven ability to manage time and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Methodical documentation skills to maintain meticulous and detailed records, ensuring accuracy and clarity in record-keeping.
  • Experience working across teams and communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to communicate positively and compassionately with the public.
  • Experience with social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.
  • A passion for environmental protection and an eagerness to learn.
Pay and Benefits:
  • $16-$19 per hour commensurate with experience and demonstrated skills.
  • Monday – Friday workweek, with occasional weekend hours depending on scheduled events.
