Keet Short is a District A (Stone Co.) board nominee. This is his bio:
''My name is Keet Short. I am a Stone County, Missouri, native and Galena High graduate. I was raised on a family farm in Ponce de Leon, Missouri, where my wife Candy and I now reside and operate a beef cattle farm on land that was originally homesteaded by my family in the late 1860’s.
I am blessed to be a father of two and grandfather of three and served our country in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1976 with an honorable discharge of which I am extremely proud.
I graduated from Missouri State University in 1972—being the first college graduate of our family.
My parents worked our homestead farm, my father milking cattle by day and working on the Table Rock Dam at night. In 1961, my father and I started Short Construction. We built custom homes, condominiums, and commercial buildings in the Table Rock Lake area. I recently retired from this business.
In my tenure on the White River board, I have been committed to keeping member rates low, and electric service and reliability high. I support and encourage the use of a diverse energy portfolio. Member equity has risen from 30% to 47% during my board service while capital credit retirement has accelerated.
I enjoy the challenge of keeping current with federal laws that impact our Cooperative. I have earned the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Gold Certificate representing many hours of training and certification. The Director Gold credential is recognized as the top commitment in education beyond the first two certificates–Credentialed C
