Moving the Needle on Poverty in the Ozarks
In 2017 a group of individuals representing twenty ministries, not-for-profits, schools, healthcare facilities, and governmental agencies across Ozark Mountain Country began to meet to discuss the plight of residents of the two-county region who live in poverty. Working with funding secured by a grant form the Missouri Foundation for Health, this group set off on a three-year effort to uncover the incidence and impacts of poverty in Stone and Taney Counties. Moving forward OMC Cares was formed to provide the backbone function of Ozark Mountain Country’s Collective Impact initiative to combat poverty in our community. To align around a common agenda and shared outcomes.
