College of the Ozarks to host national Plein Air Convention artists for campus paint-out

Hundreds of painters expected to capture iconic campus landscapes during May 15 event

POINT LOOKOUT, MO — College of the Ozarks will welcome artists from across the nation on Friday, May 15, as part of the nationally recognized Plein Air Convention & Expo (PACE), taking place in the Branson area May 14–18, 2026.
The event, presented by Plein Air Convention & Expo, is considered the world’s largest gathering of outdoor painters and will bring hundreds of artists to the Ozarks for five days of instruction, demonstrations, and on-location painting experiences.
From approximately 3:30 to 6:45 p.m. on May 15, an estimated 200–400 painters will spread across designated public-facing locations on the College of the Ozarks campus to paint landscapes, architecture, gardens, historic landmarks, and pastoral scenes.
Artists will have access to several iconic campus areas, including:
  • Williams Memorial Chapel, the Scripture Garden, and The Point
  • Edwards Mill and Lake Honor
  • The Keeter Center (waterfall and exterior)
  • Patriots Park and The Empty Cross™
  • Ralph Foster Museum and Doc Good Park
The paint-out is designed to be minimally disruptive while offering artists the opportunity to experience and interpret the beauty and atmosphere of the Ozarks through their work.
“We are honored to welcome these artists to campus,” said Valorie Coleman, director of communication & public relations. “This is a unique opportunity to showcase the beauty, mission, and hospitality of College of the Ozarks to a national creative audience. We hope guests leave inspired, not only by the scenery, but by the spirit of the campus and the students who serve here every day.”

During the event, guests will be encouraged to visit public-facing student industries and destinations including The Keeter Center, Edwards Mill, Ralph Foster Museum, and the Stained Glass & Candle Shop.
Event organizers describe the convention as a five-day immersive experience featuring instruction from more than 75 professional artists across multiple mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and gouache.
