College of the Ozarks hosts 30th Camp Lookout for area youth
POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — College of the Ozarks Camp Lookout returned for its 30th year, offering free summer camp to children in surrounding counties. This summer’s theme, “Run Free,” was designed to remind the campers that we are able to “Run Free” only because of what Jesus has done for us. Camp Lookout is hosted on the College of the Ozarks campus campground, complete with an activities field, housing, and playgrounds. For the summer of 2024, 10 sessions of camp were offered from June 3rd – Aug. 8.
College of the Ozarks senior Ben Alleger conducts shark research through summer internship in Florid
POINT LOOKOUT, MO — Ben Alleger, senior conservation and wildlife management and ecology and field biology double major at College of the Ozarks, spent six weeks interning with the Coastal Marine Education and Research Academy (C.M.E.R.A.) in Clearwater, Florida. This six-week program provided hands-on experience with marine research, including catching, tagging, and releasing sharks and stingrays to better understand their populations and distributions in the Gulf of Mexico. POINT LOOKOUT, MO — On Saturday, June 29, College of the Ozarks hosted the 35th annual Honor America Celebration on campus. The event helped the community to collectively celebrate the nation and to remember American servicemen and women. A record crowd attended the annual event. Dr. Brad Johnson, College of the Ozarks president, honored and prayed for families whose spouses are currently serving in the Middle East, and the College presented several special recognitions during the patriotic program.
College of the Ozarks hospitality seniors conducts panel discussions with industry leaders
POINT LOOKOUT, MO. — Last spring, six College of the Ozarks hospitality seniors moderated panel discussions with local businesses including Big Cedar and Silver Dollar City where they explored topics such as managing employees and interviewing for jobs. Students took the initiative to form two groups and organize the panel discussions. College of the Ozarks students travel to southern cities as part of Civil Rights Movement Trip
